Free plan fallback
An account with no active Professional subscription is on the Community plan. This includes:
- a new account that chose Continue with Free,
- an account whose Professional subscription has ended,
- an account whose subscription was cancelled after failed payments.
The Community fee applies to online payments taken while the account is on the Community plan.
Fees on payments from students

- Manual bank transfer: the student pays into your bank account using the bank details on the payment page. Soniq Studio takes no fee.
- Pay by Bank and Direct Debit: the student pays online through GoCardless. GoCardless takes its fee from each payment. On the Community plan, Soniq Studio also takes 1% + 30p from each payment.
- GoCardless fees: set by GoCardless, not by Soniq Studio. On 15 October 2026 the pricing page said they can be as little as 1% + 20p. See GoCardless pricing for the current fees and a calculator.
- Fees come out of the payment before the money reaches your bank account.
Professional-only features

Subscription statuses
These appear in Status on the Billing page.

When you cancel, the Billing page also shows Ends on and the last day of Professional.
